Tower Hamlets Housing ChoiceTower Hamlets Council residents gave a positive vote to explore options for working with housing associations to bring new investment and service improvements to their homes. Over 50% of tenants, representing more than 14,500 households took part in the ballot. Of these, 77% voted ‘yes’ to exploring these options. Tenants and leaseholders went on to select potential housing association partners and Mitali was picked as one of 16 partners to work up detailed plans with local estates. Mitali applied to be a partner association because it was set up and is managed by local people originating in Sylhet and living in Tower Hamlets. Mitali has developed many quality family homes in the borough and wants to use its experience of good service to tenants, low rents, financial strength and local knowledge to improve housing conditions in Wapping Stepney and Bethnal Green.
